PROGRESSIVE DUES STRUCTURE
The Local Finance Committee met on 1-28-10 to set a budget for 2010 and review possible progressive dues structures for the coming year.
The Finance Committee felt that the dues structure based on monthly gross wages was the fairest form of applying progressive dues. A structure based on a percentage of hourly wages would not take into account decreased wages for part-time employees.
We discussed a number of points and felt strongly that this dues structure should yield sufficient revenue for a minimum of 5 years to come. We do not want to change the Local Constitution every year to keep up with per capita increases. This is the dues structure that the Membership Meeting approved. Overtime wages will not be included in the formula, only base pay.
