Minnesota Department of Public Safety Employees Local 3142, AFSCME, AFL-CIO
Public Safety Local 3142 first organized in 1981. We have since become known as the local with "Proud Spirit". Local 3142 is a statewide union local which serves 800 State of Minnesota employees in 18 Divisions of the Department of Public Safety. Minnesota Public Safety local is made up of a diverse section of agencies including Driver and Vehicle Services, State Patrol and its Commercial Vehicle Section, Pipeline Safety, Capitol Security, State Fire Marshall, Homeland Security, Alcohol and Gambling, Crime Victim Services, and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Public Safety Local 3142 holds regular monthly membership meetings the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings are held at AFSCME Minnesota Council 5 offices at 300 Hardman Ave. S., South St. Paul, MN. We provide phone hookups to those members that reside in out-state areas. We request members notify a local officer the day prior to meetings to accommodate phone hookup connections.

Local 3142 members participate fully in the administration and operation of the local as stewards, officers, negotiations delegates, convention delegates, and political activists. Our local continues to be involved at the Council level. The local has had a representative on the Master negotiating team for most of the bargaining years. We are proud to remember that throughout the years the goal has been to continually put members at the "U" in our union. We look forward to continual growth and solidarity in the coming years in Public Safety Local 3142.
